yellow light on dash said "engine not receiving enough power". Turned off car

turn back on, car fine. Took to shop said I needed plugs and coils (64,000 mi). Put in coils and plugs and still does same thing. Only when it first starts up. Mechanic said needs lifter adjustment and go to BMW. Car out of warranty less than one month. Had in 3 weeks ago, told him hard to start. They had for two days, said could not find problem. I believe they lied and this is related. Is it?
