Windshield wipers won't move

If you hear the motor running but the wipers do not move - the link and pivot is likely broken under the cowl. Has there been ice and snow built up on the windshield? If so - when the wipers are stuck to the windhsield, it is easy to break that link and pivot assembly. Just one possible cause.
