Why does my check engine light stay on?

What is your question?

The van has been sitting for a long time.we just bought it, changed oil& filter, added gas & added fuel injector cleaner. Is running a little better now but sputters on excelaration for a little bit. Engine light is still on & I'm afraid to drive it. Mechanic suggested possible fuel injection problem. Any other suggestions?

Thank you. I found out how to get codes from ignition switch. It flashes the codes. Thanks again
