What is your question?
I have a 1996 GMC K1500 SLE. Driver side tail light completly stopped working. The passenger tail light only does brake light and turn light. I have replaced the circuit board in each taillight has they are known for being faulty. i also replaced each bulb. I checked the connection plug the goes into the circuit board with a test light. I'm getting power from each wire except for the parking light. I also checked my ground in the connector with the test light and its good. When I plug everything in, I still have the exact same issue. I should be getting at least my reverse lights, brakes, and turn signal.
How long has your 1996 GMC K1500 had this problem?
A few months

Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Does this vehicle have a trailer wiring harness also? Sometimes I find that this can be troublesome and cause issues with the conventional tail lights of the vehicle. Also check the harness going back and wiggle it and see if it changes the voltage present at the desired socket. You might find a flex point at the harness creates an intermittent problem or excessive resistance in that particular circuit. You may also find a ground issue -- meaning lots of power present but with no ground, no operation occurs. Lastly, sometimes the switch creates a problem due to high power going through the block causing wire terminal issues. All these things said, I can only recommend further testing and can offer the assistance of a shop near you: https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link or call us at 877-913-1554.
