Is the Check Engine Light/Service Engine Soon light on? I wonder if there is a fault in the evaporation emission where it is allowing excess fuel vapors into the intake manifold after refueling. If it were a leaking fuel injector or something similar the problem would occur all the time.

Check engine light is on. Repair shop checked for the code and it was for evap leak. They tested the car for over 2 hours and could not find a leak. They cleared the code but about 3weeks later check engine light came back on. Currently driving with light on. Update: Got car fixed by replacing the FUEL PUMP RELAY and have not had a problem since. Thank You.

I chased this issue with my car for over a year, fill up, hard to start, after that the car ran normal. I finally found a post that sounded exactly like this and it turned out to be the charcoal canister purge solenoid. Right on top, easy to get to, 5 minutes - Fixed!
