when engine light on and tach is not working on my 2005 Hyundai XG350L

Hello, the sensor that monitors ignition spark and provides signal to the tachometer is the IG Failure Sensor. This circuit may have a concern, or the sensor itself may have failed. You could also have an engine processor issue. Testing is needed.
