WET INTERIOR WINDOWS

(1999 Lincoln Town Car)
What does it mean when all the interior windows are soaking wet? Not just a little steamy but soaking wet.

I put on the defroster and it took so long for the windows to clear up that I had to open the windows.

I normally keep my windows closed at all times.

You have water in the car, either from water leaking from outside when it rains, a plugged A/C evaporator drain or a leaking heater core. Try to find wet carpeting and that will help to locate the area where the leak is occurring.

Aren't you the same person with the leaking windshield? Probably a related problem. If you don't get this taken care of, your car will probably rust prematurely.

Also, on the bottom of your doors, there are some black rubber plugs. Pull those out, there might be water inside your doors. Clean out the drain hole with a small knife blade and let the water run out.

If you usually see wet spots in your driveway right under where the front and rear doors meet, there is probably water inside the doors.

ziptie12 you were on the right path. I purposely signed up on this site to share my experience for all that come across this problem. My mothers car acted exactly as johnny57 described. It had been an issue for a year after buying the car used. All I had read and heard about kept leading to the idle control module but of course that was not the solution. When I came across this blog I knew that ziptie12 was on to something. My next and final step after several repair shops was to take the car to the Toyota dealership (for the third time) and simply say that there is no car that is unrepairable and that if you can not repair it we will need to go to corporate because many people have this issue. Then a miracle happened. While the car was running the mechanic pulled on the wiring leading to the idle control module and the car stalled. No one prior had thought to do this. This section of wiring was removed and underneath a wrapped part of the harness was a severed. Fortunately, they had a used harness and only charged us $250 in labor. I am not sure what caused the sever but the problem was solved after much headache.
