Cadillac Seville STS Problems

The Parking Brake May Not Automatically Release on Cadillac Seville STS

Problem Description and Possible Solution

The parking brake may not release automatically due to a failed vacuum switch or actuator. Our technicians tell us that if vacuum is supplied to the actuator when the transmission is in gear, the vacuum switch is functioning and replacing the actuator should correct this concern.

Emergency brake does not retract all the way back. I have to reach under the panell and pull a small lever to get it to fully release then slightly pull the brake back manually. This is on the 92 base model seville.
Parking brake will not release automatically HVAC blows in defrost mode. I will look into the location of the probable vacuum leak.
