The Parking Brake May Not Automatically Release on Cadillac DeVille

Problem Description and Possible Solution

The parking brake may not release automatically due to a failed vacuum switch or actuator. Our technicians tell us that if vacuum is supplied to the actuator when the transmission is in gear, the vacuum switch is functioning and replacing the actuator should correct this concern.

parked itwith the emergency brake on, went to move it and the brakes won't release I thought the brake pads were just corroded to the disc, but the cylinders won't retract
I accidentely hit the parking brake while at the stop light. The car would not move. I took it out of gear and put it back in gear but again it would not move. A mechanic was in the car behind me and found the release and yanked on it and the brake released. I put it in gear and it would not move. The mechanic said "turn off the motor and restart it. That will re program the brake. I did restart and every thing was back to normal.
still not repaired I just use park brake on extreme hills then use the manual release next to pedal-see owners manual
When putting car in gear the parking brake will not release. The only way to release the brake is to manually pull on lever next to pedal.
