Had the same problem a couple of years ago. Cost me 1200 before it was cured. I agree it was expensive but necessary. Occurred at about 120k mi; engine finally failed at 200K mi; love the van, replaced it with an engine from a wreck with 82K mi. Expect about 50K from this engine.
