Trunk Will Not Latch Closed on Ford Fusion

Trunk makes terrible noise when using interior button or remote to open it, will then need to be slammed repeatedly in order to get it to latch. Once closed to dash still says it is open. Replaced latch assembly, dash still states trunk is open....
same problem as the others. trunk has trouble latching. and when it does, the dome light stays on and the information screen reads trunk ajar.
I have this same problem. The trunk button inside my 2009 forud fusion makes a loud noise. I then try to close the trunk and have to slam it a few times until it shuts. I've tried manually opening it with my key to avoid using the button, but then my dash board light says the trunk is still open when it's already shut. How can i fix this?
The trunk won't close until it's slammed shut. Quite annoying to have to slam the trunk a few times before it closes.
Check engine light goes on. Had it checked the code was for a faulty gas cap. This model does not have a gas cap! Also the seatbelt light is on.
I have to manually shut my trunk. 2008 fusion. Use to be where l could just gently touch it and it would close on it's own
