Truck makes roaring noise when driving...1997 explorer

Took it to shop, they thought it was bearings - replaced hubs, checked differential, worked on it for hours trying to find source of noise...doesnt make it on rack, does on the ground...husband says it sounds like the front end is falling out of it? HELP! and yes, it does change on acceleration...
