Ok so here is the story of our nightmare over the last month with our 05 Dodge Ram....My husbands truck started reving up from 500rmp to 1000-1500rmp when in idle. Last week his water pump went out so we took it to the shop to get it fixed and while it was there have them look at everything. They fixed the water pump and deemed the "reving up" problem on the need for a full tune up so we proceeded with that. Now tonight we go out for dinner and the check engine light comes on and is down shifting extremely hard; howover if up shifts great with no sign of any problem there. We just paid over $600 this week for the tune up and water pump ( and for him to look over everything-and tell me it is fine) We are young and unknowledgable when it comes to car problems! Please HELP us!
