Most GM transmissions have been metric for many years, no mater where it was built. It is hard tor me to believe you cannot find a replacement transmission for your 2008 GMC Sierra. Are you trying to replace it with the same type or making a change to a different style transmission?
Most GM truck are made in Canada and most if not all have metric bolts. Standard size fasteners went away in the 1980s and 1990s. Why not have the old transmission rebuilt by a good ATRA certified transmission shop? You will not be able to buy anew transmission, you will have to buy a factory rebuilt unit. Call the dealership, they will find one, if you can't do it, call Putnam Chevy in Burlingame Calif. and ask for Joe or Dean in the wholesale parts Dept they will GET IT DONE! Be sure to have your VIN code.
its actually a 1998 not 2008
