AC failed. Dealer said $900 to replace compressor. Bought new parts online and installed. Put in oil and recharged freon. Only hot air, both front and rear. Checked fuses, all ok. Replaced them with extras, still only hot air. Touching accumulator, it's HOT, not cold. Any ideas?

Did you have a vacuum pulled on the system to remove any oxygen? If not you will need to locate a shop that will perform this service and you can check recharging prices here https://repairpal.com/estimator/chevrolet/suburban+2500 and locate a shop here https://repairpal.com/chevrolet-repair-in-greenville-south-carolina
wow 900.00 to replace a/c compressor.that seem a bit steep.list price for a re-man compressor in my area is 240.00 to 300.00 dollars.
You're right. That's why we bought the new parts kit online and did the replacement ourselves for $350. Problem is, it still doesn't work. Of course, if the dealer would have done it, they could have come back (after $900 of work) and said I need a new condensor, $1500, or something else.
No I didn't. My chilton's didn't say anything about that. I'll check into it. The other ideas I had were a condensor problem, or electrical. I'll check the vacuum issue and see... thanks.
