The starter starts 1 time next time makes dragging sound, turn key again and it fires right up. Turn car off and want start again. Replaced starter and same problem. Cadillac has 196,000 miles and has no other problems. Drives great. Car has only been serviced by Cadillac.

Have you checked the engine's battery to see if it is strong enough to sustain the load of the starter motor engaging the engine? A weak battery can cause sluggish starter motor performance.
