What is your question?
The car will sometimes stall when idle at a traffic light. We had the fuel filter replaced. Seems to do better, but still stalls. Has been mentioned that EGR valve could use work. Can you adjust an EGR valve or does it have to be replaced. Or what other reason could it have for stalling?

First of all, I would check the diagnostic trouble codes in the Engine and Ignition control modules, there is a way to do this yourself, here are instructions: http://vcoa.org/700-900-faq/EngineOBDCodes.html It is very important that the throttle body is cleaned and adjusted properly, otherwise the engine idle can be too low or too high at idle. There are at least 4-5 things that can cause engine stalling, so start with these two things first, if you get codes, post them here and I can give you more info. For other issues that will cause stalling, look at the common problem page for the 940: http://repairpal.com/volvo-940-1995/common_problems
I dont know squat about cars but i have the same car that has the same problem. Water accumulates in the distributor cap, causing the stalling. This is what happens to mine after it rains or i have driven through puddles.
