When you step on the gas the sub sputters down the road. it does speed up, But it seems to be starving for fuel. Have replaced fuel filter and fuel pump relay. Can it be anything other than the fuel pump. ( it does not happen all the time) Thanks for any insight to this problem?

You may indeed have a fuel pump is failing on your 1995 Chevrolet Suburban. The only way to know for sure is to check the fuel pressure. You could also have an ignition misfire that is causing your sputtering issue. I would recommend a complete diagnoses of the fuel and ignition systems before replacing any more unnecessary parts.
Had same problems. Turned out to be oxygen sensor. Ran diagnostics run on it and it was #1 sensor. Around 30 bucks. up behind exhaust manifold on drivers side. Was a bugger to get out but once replaced problem was solved.
