Q: service engine light, vdc off, and loss of power. on 2004 Nissan Maxima

Rookie cbe0621eac06868b3efe0d8d1d3611e23c60d3114864ea2ec19a68cfbd3eebab
I was driving home, when all of a sudden the service engine and vdc lights came on. I immediately loss power as if the trans had went bad. I put the car in neutral to restart the car but it was still running. I pulled over, turned off and restarted the car and was able to drive home at about 10 mph with my foot pressing hard on the gas pedal. This is the first time this has happened. Thank heaven I was not on the highway with the kids. Doing my research as the car has sat in front of the house. I'm scared straight for now. Does anybody have any idea what happened and the remedy.
