I have a very low mileage 1999 Dodge Ram, 2500, 4wd, V10. After replaceing a cracked head I have now developed rod or main bearing noise/knock. I thought I caught the head problem in time but possibly the antifreeze leaking from the head may have caused excessive wear on the bearings. Is it possible to replace the bearings without removing the engine? I have done this before on older trucks and it worked out.

Had to remove the oil pump pickup tube but the pan did come off. I am working on it now. Thanks,
