Replace transfer case

(1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty)

need to replace the transfer case and was quoted $2700.00 for a rebuild is that a fair price.

Figure about 6-6.5 hours of labor, and about $1,000 worth of parts. So that may be a bit high.

I believe you can get a complete transfer case from Ford already assembled for $1,500 - $1,800, depending on the spec's. Add a few hours labor to install, and you'd be ahead of the game.

that is bad...I called my local junk yard and had one priced at 450...with core charge...there is a return policy if it don't work...so its alot better on the wallet....
