Brakes
PROLONGED BRAKE HOSE CONTACT CAN CAUSE A PARTIAL LOSS OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM. PROLONGED ABS SENSOR WIRE CONTACT CAN CAUSE A LOSS OF ABS FUNCTION.
A front brake hose or anti-lock brake system (ABS) wheel speed sensor wire may be damaged by contact with the wheelhouse splash shield. A damaged brake hose may leak brake fluid, reducing braking efficiency and/or illuminating the brake warning light. A damaged ABS sensor wire may illuminate the the ABS warning light and/or cause a loss of ABS function. This may result in reduced braking efficiency and an increased risk of a crash. Dealers will trim the front wheelhouse splash shields and inspect the brake hoses and sensor wire. Hoses and sensor wires showing signs of abrasion will be replaced.
