Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain 2012 jeep liberty and 2012-2013 chrysler 200 and dodge avenger vehicles. a component within the occupant restraint controller (orc) may fail and prevent the active headrests from deploying in the event of a rear-end crash.

The vehicle is equipped with active headrests that deploy to protect occupants in a rear end collision. In some cases, a component within the occupant restraint controller may fail and prevent the active headrests from deploying as needed. Front seat occupants would have an increased risk of injury as a result.

Recall repairs on your Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicle must be performed by a Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealership. Chrysler will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in November, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Chrysler recall number is T56.

Shields installed during a previous campaign to protect the brake booster from allowing water to enter it may have been installed improperly. If this is the case, braking ability may be reduced, increasing risk of an accident.

The rear axle shafts may not be of the proper length as needed for use in the vehicle; they may be too short. As a result, they may disengage from the rear differential, causing a loss of motive power and increasing risk of a crash.

The hoses that transport engine oil to and from the engine oil cooler may fail and leak engine oil rapidly. This could allow engine oil to spray onto the windshield, obstructing clear vision which can result in an accident. Engine oil can also spray onto hot surfaces, risking a fire hazard.

The passenger frontal air bag assembly is deployed by an inflator which contains propellant that makes the air bag deploy. This propellant may degrade over time, especially when exposed to humidity and temperature cycling. As a result, the inflator may rupture on deployment, which can send metal shrapnel through the air bag, striking vehicle occupants. This could result in serious injury or death.

Recall repairs on your Sprinter must be performed by a Dodge or Sprinter dealership. Daimler Vehicles USA will notify known owners of affected vehicles (a timetable of this notification is not available as of the time of this writing.) If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Dodge or Sprinter dealerships.
