THE TAPERED STUD CAN LOOSEN AND THE DRIVER WOULD NOTICE A LAG IN THE RESPONSIVENESS TO STEERING WHEEL INPUTS. EVENTUALLY THE RELAY ROD STUD CAN FRACTURE RESULTING LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL.
The steering of the vehicle may not be responsive for could fail due to a loose fastener on the relay rod stud that is part of the steering linkage. This could result in loss of steering control and a crash.
You must visit a General Motors dealership to perform recall repairs on your Chevrolet vehicle. The schedule for Chevrolet to contact known owners of affected vehicles is during October, 1996. If you wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local General Motors dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
