Ford has recalled certain 1996 Taurus, Mercury Sable, and Lincoln Continental vehicles for a concern with the transmission park mechanism. In some vehicles, the park pawl is not rotating as necessary to enter the park gear. This could cause the vehicle to roll out of control. Dealers will inspect the park pawl shaft for rotation. Shafts with restricted rotation will have a shorter shaft installed that will not restrict rotation.
