Suspension & Steering
THIS DAMAGE TO THE TIRE REINFORCING STRUCTURE IN THE BEAD "TOE" AREA CAUSES A BULGE IN THE SIDEWALL AFTER THE TIRE IS INFLATED. THIS CONDITION WILL RESULT IN A SLOW AIR LOSS CAUSING THE TIRE TO GO FLAT. HOWEVER, IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGE TO RESULT IN A RAPID AIR LOSS CAUSING INJURIES TO ANYONE IF THEY WERE HANDLING THE TIRE WHEN THIS OCCURRED.
The tires that were installed from the factory new may have had damage to their beads. This could cause tire failure in a loss of vehicle control. As of the time of this writing, it is expected all tires affected would have been replaced already.
You must visit a General Motors dealership to perform recall repairs on your GMC truck or Chevrolet truck. The schedule for General Motors to initially contact known owners of affected vehicles was during July, 1996. If you did not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local General Motors dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
