Affected vehicles are equipped with active shoulder belt restraints that run on a track to open and close as needed with an occupant entering or exiting the vehicle. In some cases, the shoulder belts may bind on the track they ride on, possibly sticking in position and not properly restraining an occupant. This creates increased risk of occupant injury in an accident.
