General motors llc (gm) is recalling certain 2006-2010 pontiac solstice and 2007-2010 saturn sky vehicles. the passenger air bag suppression system (pps) sensor may become bent or damaged within the front passenger seat, possibly disabling the front passenger air bag.

An issue with the passenger air bag suppression system within the front passenger seat may prevent the front passenger air bag from deploying in an accident, increasing risk of occupant injury. 

Recall repairs on your Pontiac or Saturn must be performed by a General Motors dealership. General Motors will notify known owners of affected vehicles (a timetable of this notification is not available as of the time of this writing). If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local General Motors dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The General Motors recall number is 17036.

The passenger frontal air bag assembly is deployed by an inflator which contains propellant that makes the air bag deploy. This propellant may degrade over time, especially when exposed to humidity and temperature cycling. As a result, the inflator may rupture on deployment, which can send metal shrapnel through the air bag, striking vehicle occupants. This could result in serious injury or death.

Recall repairs on your Toyota or Lexus or Pontiac must be performed by a Toyota, Lexus or General Motors (for Pontiac models) dealership, respectively.
