Brakes
SEVERELY CORRODED ROTORS MAY FRACTURE OR SEPARATE NEARTHE INNER EDGES OF THE BRAKE DISCS RESULTING IN REDUCED BRAKING EFFECTIVENESS,HIGHER THAN NORMAL PEDAL EFFORTS, LOUD GRINDING NOISES, AND MODERATE PULLS WHENTHE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. REDUCED BRAKING EFFECTIVENESS MAY INCREASE MINIMUMSTOPPING DISTANCES, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT.
Ford has recalled certain 1990-1992 Taurus, Mercury Sable, and Lincoln Continental vehicles in cold weather, high corrosion states to replace the brake rotors. The original rotors on the vehicle can easily corrode and separate, causing a potential braking safety issue. Dealers will replace the front rotors with full cast iron rotors.
