Suspension & Steering
IF TIE ROD SEPARATES AND AFFECTED WHEEL HITS A HUMP OR IS SUBJECTED TO MODERATE TO HEAVY BRAKING FORCES, THIS COULD RESULT IN LOSS OFSTEERING CONTROL AND A VEHICLE CRASH.
The steering linkage tie rods may not be properly torqued. This could result in a loss of steering control and can lead to a crash.
You must visit a General Motors dealership to perform recall repairs on your GMC truck or Chevrolet truck. The schedule for General Motors to initially contact known owners of affected vehicles was during May, 1990. If you did not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local General Motors dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
