A corroded cable can break, preventing the seat belt from properly restraining an occupant, and increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
The front seat belt anchor pretensioner cables may corrode due to exposure to water and road salt. This would deteriorate the cable to where it could fracture, preventing proper restraint of an occupant in an accident. This increases the risk of injury.
