The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve may experience contamination due to a coolant leak of the EGR cooler. This can allow coolant to mix with Diesel engine soot, resulting in smoldering particles and a melting intake manifold. This increases the risk of a fire.

You must contact and visit a BMW dealership to perform recall repairs on your BMW vehicle. The schedule for BMW to contact known owners of affected vehicles is during September, 2024. Recalls are unrelated to your warranty coverage. Any recalls that are issued for safety-related items on your vehicle will be repaired by the vehicle manufacturer at no cost to you.
