Exhaust & Emissions
An EGR valve with smoldering particles and a melting intake manifold increases the risk of an engine fire.
The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve may experience contamination due to a coolant leak of the EGR cooler. This can allow coolant to mix with Diesel engine soot, resulting in smoldering particles and a melting intake manifold. This increases the risk of a fire.
You must contact and visit a BMW dealership to perform recall repairs on your BMW vehicle. The schedule for BMW to contact known owners of affected vehicles is during September, 2024. If you wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local BMW dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
