Shift Lever Does Not Select Accurate Gear Due To Worn Bushing

A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

The shift cable to transmission bushing may degrade or detach, making the shift lever position selector be in error, possibly causing the vehicle to be in "neutral" gear when not desired to be and allowing the vehicle to roll away. It can also allow the vehicle to operate in an undesired direction. This can lead to accidents and injury.

Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Ford will begin notifying known owners of affected vehicles beginning in June, 2022. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. How long it takes to fix a recall depends on many different factors:

How many vehicles are affected by the recall? How complex is the problem to fix? How many different parts are involved in the repair? Are the repair parts available? How many recalled cars can the dealer repair each day (while also doing their daily service business)?

Recalls are unrelated to your warranty coverage. Any recalls that are issued for safety-related items on your vehicle will be repaired by the vehicle manufacturer at no cost to you.
