Drive Train
A fractured driveshaft can cause a loss of drive power, or a loss of vehicle control if the driveshaft contacts the ground. Additionally, unintended movement could occur while parked if the parking brake is not engaged. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
For vehicles with gasoline engines and aluminum driveshafts, the driveshaft may become damaged and fracture due to underbody heat and noise insulators loosening and contacting it. If the driveshaft is damaged or fractured, loss of motive power will result, as well as possible damage and an accident from the driveshaft contacting the ground. Additionally, the vehicle may freely move with the transmission set to "park" gear and parking brake not applied. A vehicle rollaway can result in accident and injury.
Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Ford will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in April, 2022. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Ford recall number is 22S09.
