Drive Train
Driveshaft separation can result in a loss of drive power, or unintended movement while parked if the parking brake is not engaged, increasing the risk of a crash.
For all wheel drive equipped models, the driveshaft attaching bolts that secure the rear driveshaft to the transfer case may become loose or damaged. This can allow the driveshaft to separate from the transfer case and would result in the loss of drive power or unintended movement while parked without the parking brake engaged. All would increase risk of a crash and injury.
Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Ford will begin notifying known owners of affected vehicles beginning in January, 2022. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Ford recall number is 21S54.
