A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.
The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle. This can cause the cable to fatigue and separate, reducing the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing risk of occupant injury in an accident.
Recall repairs on your Chevrolet or GMC truck must be performed by a General Motors dealership. General Motors will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in May, 2021. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local General Motors dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The General Motors recall designation is N212330040.
