Drive Train
Defective drive shafts may fail and cause a loss of connection between the transfer case and rear axle, possibly resulting in a vehicle rollaway when in Park or a loss of drive. Either condition can increase the risk of a crash. The drive shafts can also deform and separate from the driveline and potentially contact the fuel tank, increasing the risk of fuel leaks and/or fire.
The drive shaft of the vehicle may fracture at the weld seam, causing a loss of motive power, and allowing vehicles in "park" gear without the parking brake applied to roll away unexpectedly. This can result in a crash. A deformed drive shaft can also contact the fuel tank increasing risk of fuel leaks or a fire.
Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Ford will begin notifying known owners of affected vehicles beginning in December, 2020. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Ford recall number is 20S65.
