For vehicles that have already had passenger frontal air bag inflators replaced under a previous recall campaign, the replacement inflators were of the same design as the original defective ones. Therefore, the replacement passenger frontal air bag inflator may rupture on deployment, causing metal fragments to come through the air bag and injure occupants. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator a second time free of charge to resolve the concern.

Recall repairs on your Mazda must be performed by a Mazda dealership. Mazda will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in December, 2019.
