Drive Train
If the coupling fails, the vehicle will not be able to move under its own power and the disconnected driveshaft may impact and damage the brake and fuel lines. Additionally, the separated driveshaft may allow the vehicle to roll if the vehicle is exited when the transmission is in 'Park' but the parking brake is not applied. These scenarios may increase the risk of a crash or injury.
The flexible coupling that attaches the driveshaft to the transmission may prematurely fail. This would cause the driveshaft to become disconnected from the vehicle. If this happens, the driveshaft can contact and damage brake and fuel lines, as well as the vehicle undercarriage. Additionally, the vehicle may roll freely if the driveshaft is disconnected and the parking brake is not applied. All these results can cause a crash or injury.
Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Ford will begin notifying known owners of affected vehicles beginning in November, 2019. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Ford recall number is 19S38.
