Recall 19V349000

B Pillar Inside Vehicle Will Not Absorb Enough Impact To Protect Occupants In A Crash

Recall Details

The B pillar of the vehicle may not sufficiently protect an occupants head in an accident. BMW is currently developing a remedy (this remedy is not available as of the time of this writing). Dealers will repair the vehicles per the remedy once available free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The B pillar of the vehicle, which is the area to the right of the driver's door from the roof to the rocker panel, may not absorb a sufficient amount of impact in an accident where an occupant's head contacts that area of the vehicle. This increases risk of injury.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your BMW must be performed by a BMW dealership. BMW will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in July, 2019. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local BMW dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
