Wheel Chair Lift In Modified Vehicle Allows Platform To Travel Too High

If the wheelchair lift platform stops above the vehicle floor, the wheelchair user can tip inwards toward the vehicle when exiting the lift, increasing their risk of injury.

For vehicles with a Rincon wheelchair lift as installed on modified vehicles by Mobility Specialists, the wheelchair lift platform may travel higher than the vehicle's floor height due to the lift positioning input cam failing. Dealers will replace the lift positioning input cam free of charge to resolve the concern.

Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Mobility Specialists will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in April, 2019. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships, or contact Rincon at 1-800-322-2884. Dealers will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. How long it takes to fix a recall depends on many different factors:

How many vehicles are affected by the recall? How complex is the problem to fix? How many different parts are involved in the repair? Are the repair parts available? Has the dealership received the parts for the repair yet? Do dealership technicians have training to conduct the specific repair? How many recalled cars can the dealer repair each day (while also doing their daily service business)?

Recalls are unrelated to your warranty coverage. Any recalls that are issued for safety-related items on your vehicle will be repaired by the vehicle manufacturer at no cost to you. Even if your vehicle's warranty has expired and you are not the original owner of the vehicle, you are still eligible to have any open safety recalls on your vehicle repaired.
