The Vehicle Connectivity Module (VCM) may have a software error preventing information about the vehicle's location from being communicated as needed to emergency personnel in the event of an accident. Dealers will update the VCM software free of charge to resolve the concern.

Recall repairs on your Volvo must be performed by a Volvo dealership. Volvo will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in January, 2019. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Volvo dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Volvo recall number is R39917.

How long it takes to fix a recall depends on many different factors:

How many vehicles are affected by the recall? How complex is the problem to fix? How many different parts are involved in the repair? Are the repair parts available? How many recalled cars can the dealer repair each day (while also doing their daily service business)?

Recalls are unrelated to your warranty coverage. Any recalls that are issued for safety-related items on your vehicle will be repaired by the vehicle manufacturer at no cost to you. Even if your vehicle's warranty has expired and you are not the original owner of the vehicle, you are still eligible to have any open safety recalls on your vehicle repaired.
