Recall 18V775000

Passenger Frontal Air Bag Does Not Deploy Properly In A Crash

Recall Details

The passenger frontal air bag module may become damaged from the bracket that mounts the inflator to it. If this happens, gas that inflates the air bag can leak out, and the air bag will not deploy with the proper force as needed. Dealers will replace the passenger air bag module free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The passenger frontal air bag may not deploy as needed in a crash. This can happen due to damage to the air bag by the bracket that secures the air bag inflating mechanism to the air bag module itself. If the air bag does not deploy as needed, there is an increased risk of occupant injury in an accident.

If the air bag does not inflate as intended, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger air bag module, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in November 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S34.
