Suspension & Steering
If EPS assist is lost and then suddenly returns, the driver may have difficulty steering the vehicle, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
The electric power steering (EPS) power assist may fail momentarily and then begin operating again. Dealers will update the EPS module software free of charge to resolve the concern.
Recall repairs on your Chevrolet or GMC truck must be performed by a General Motors dealership. General Motors will notify known owners of affected vehicles (a timetable for this notification is not available as of the time of this writing). If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local General Motors dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The General Motors recall number is 18289.
