The sensing diagnostic module (SDM) that functions to sense a crash and then deploy the necessary air bags to keep provide proper safety to vehicle occupants may not power down properly when the vehicle is shut off, resulting in it becoming inoperative when the vehicle is restarted. This would prevent air bag deployment in a subsequent crash, and increase risk of occupant injury.
