If the incorrect park lock rod is installed, the transmission may not shift into 'PARK' and keep the vehicle from moving, increasing the risk of unintended vehicle movement and the risk of a crash.
The transmission utilizes a park lock rod when the transmission gear selector is shifted to the park gear. This rod should prevent the vehicle from moving when the park gear is engaged. On affected vehicles, the incorrect rod may have been installed, possibly allowing the vehicle to move when it is thought to be securely locked in the park gear. This could allow the vehicle to move unexpectedly and result in injury.
Recall repairs on your Chrysler, Jeep, Ram or Dodge vehicle must be performed by a Chrysler, Jeep, Ram or Dodge dealership. Chrysler will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in June, 2018. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Chrysler, Jeep, Ram or Dodge dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Chrysler recall number is U43.
