Driver's Frontal Air Bag Unexpectedly Deploys

Recall Details

Steering components may have insufficient grounding, which can result in the unexpected deployment of the driver's frontal air bag while driving. Dealers will add sufficient grounding to the steering components free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The driver's frontal air bag may deploy unexpectedly while driving if certain conditions are met due to insufficient grounding of steering components. This would increase risk of an injury.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Mercedes Benz vehicle must be performed by a Mercedes Benz dealership. Mercedes Benz will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in December, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Mercedes Benz dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
