Wheels Fracture Resulting In Tire Air Pressure Loss

For vehicles with cast aluminum Katla 8.5 inch wheels as equipped by vehicle modifier American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), the wheels could fracture, resulting in rapid loss of tire air pressure. Dealers will replace the wheels with wheels of similar value free of charge to resolve the concern.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Ram truck must be performed by a Ram dealership. American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in August, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ram dealerships or AEV customer service at 1-248-926-0256, extension 500. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.

Summary
Streetcar ORV LLC, dba American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) is recalling certain 2013-2017 RAM 2500 and 3500 heavy duty trucks, modified by AEV to be equipped with cast aluminum Katla 8.5" road wheels. The outer surface of the wheel may fracture, resulting in rapid air loss.
Consequence
If the wheel fractures, a loss of vehicle control can occur, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
AEV will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wheels with wheels of similar value, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin August 31, 2017. Owners may contact AEV customer service at 1-248-926-0256 extension 500.
