Brake Lights Do Not Activate When Parking Brake Is Used During Emergency Braking

Recall Details

The brake lights will not illuminate when the parking brake is used during emergency braking. Dealers will update the vehicle software free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The brake lights on the vehicle will not illuminate when the parking brake is used during emergency braking. This would mean that other vehicles on the road would not be notified of the vehicle stopping, and could result in an accident.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Audi must be performed by a Audi dealership. Audi will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in July, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Audi dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
