The fuel tank vent line may rub up against the ribbed wire protection sleeve of the positive battery cable. This can cause a leak in the vent line, resulting in fuel vapors escaping. Fuel vapors in the presence of an ignition source can ignite, causing a fire hazard.

17V-088 Recall Solution

Recall repairs on your BMW must be performed by a BMW dealership. BMW will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in April, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local BMW dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.

How many recalled cars can the dealer repair each day (while also doing their daily service business)?

Recalls are unrelated to your warranty coverage. Any recalls that are issued for safety-related items on your vehicle will be repaired by the vehicle manufacturer at no cost to you.
